La forme dihydratée de l'iodure de baryum est obtenue par recristallisation à chaud dans des solutions aqueuses. À 150 °C, le produit se déshydrate et forme l'iodure de baryum anhydre (CAS 13718-50-8).

Utilisation et sources d'émission 1

L'iodure de baryum est utilisé pour certaines applications industrielles spécialisées, notamment:

  • dans des verres transparents à l'infrarouge utilisés dans des lasers
  • comme promoteur dans certaines catalyses
  • en tant que précurseur pour synthétiser certains matériaux supraconducteurs
  • dans la préparation d'autres iodures
